Staten Island to Sandy Hook

Location: Staten Island, New York

Venue:Outer New York Harbor, Raritan Bay

Note: No Rental boats available. Must bring own boat.

Starting at Miller Field we will head out into Raritan Bay. Using the currents to our advantage we will head over to the tip of Sandy Hook.

At the tip we must cross the channel, which flows at up to 2.3 knots around the headland. This area can get very exciting, with seas up to six feet and heavy boat traffic.

Arriving near the tip of Sandy Hook, we are likely to have a surf landing. We'll have lunch and explore the area on foot before we start on our return trip.

Depending on the conditions we might visit Old Orchard Light, or head over to Norton Point on our return journey.
