Navigation from a kayak is much more difficult than navigating from land or a large boat. The tide, currents and wind effect a sea kayak more than larger boats, as do the limitations of space and type of equipment. To be a good kayaker means becoming proficient at all the different types of skills a sea kayaker needs.
