A great shape and inexpensive. That makes it good first paddle or a great spare paddle. The trade off is a few more ounces of weight. What we like about Werner's Recreational line of paddles, is that Werner kept the good shape of a Werner Premium blade so this paddle performs great. The construction is strong, but heavier than Werner's Premium line of paddles. The Rec Sport is designed for a vertical style of forward stroke.
