Many of our staff like the versitility of a tow belt, for people whohardly ever have to tow the PFD attached tow sytem may be a better choice. It is always with you. It tows from ahighter point so it does not get tangled on rear deck gear and rudders as easily as a tow belt.
The 50' line is long enough to tow in any size sea conditions. A downside of PFD worn tow system is it pulls from a high point on the body. You also can't hand it off to someone else to take over the towing. They are also harder to repack on the water. There is no perfect tow system, but every kayaker should have some type of tow system.
The carabineer is stainless steel with no gate indent which can interfere with hooking and unhooking the tow line. The carabineers also have an eye so that the line cannot fall off the carabineer.
Kokatat says: 50' static rope or 25' rope with optional shock absorber
