If you like the responsiveness of the NDK Romany, but need more room, the Romany HV might be the answer. The hard chines give the Romany HV good stability for its 22 inch beam. Most boats designed for larger paddlers are very wide and have lower performance characteristics. NDK took the Romany and made it a bit wider where needed, but without lowering the performance of the boat significantly. Because the beam of the Romany HV is just 22 inches, the handling of the Romany HV is almost identical to that of the Romany. The trick is that the Romany HV stays wider further forward and aft, giving the Romany HV extra stability and foot room without turning it into a low performance kayak like many other manufacurers do when designing a kayak for larger paddlers. The transition from the Romany to the Romany HV is not as dramatic as to the Explorer line.Photo of NDK Romany HV Knee bumps side view

NDK says: Formally known as The Posedion, The Romany HV has been designed as a day kayak for the larger paddler. The kayak has a wider keyhole cockpit than any other British made fibreglass sea kayak and has more volume in the rear compartments than the Romany.Photo of NDK Romany HV Knee bumps top view

The hull design offers maximum support and the shaped foredeck allows for large feet up to size 11/12. Having a flatter hull this kayak surfs well. A low rear deck for easy rolling. A white water cockpit. This gives the kayaker excellent grip, control and allows a quick exit if needed! Three compartments, including an offset day hatch, allowing the kayaker to reach into the compartment whilst at sea. Sloping rear bulkhead behind the seat, allowing the kayak to be emptied by lifting the bow (no X rescue necessary). Polished deck recesses. Exceptional manoeuvrability, with direction stability. Very fast in following seas. Large round hatches Minimum weather cocking in strong winds.
