Hands are always hard to keep warm. Over the years we have
tried many combinations of gloves, mitts and poggies. The problem we run into with gloves is the paddle slipping, and with mitts or thick gloves you lose dexterity making it hard to find the grab loop on a spray skirt. What makes these glove so good it the polyurethane grip on the palm and fingers, plus the fact that these gloves are pre-curved so holding a paddle is easier than with straight gloves. This reduces hand fatigue and bunching of material (which reduces blood flow). Since these gloves are only 3mm neoprene, they will not keep your hands warm in very cold conditions. We use these gloves with poggies in the dead of winter. For warmer weather paddling the Stohlquiest Yellow Jackets Poggies might be better for most paddlers.
Salamander Says: The Otter Paws is the one that started it all. This neoprene glove is articulated to minimize fatigue.
Otter Paw w/Fleece like it's brother, the Otter Paw, this neoprene glove is articulated to minimize fatigue but has a fleece lining for added warmth.
