GRO Tow Belt

This tow belt is ideal for sea kayakers. Easy to repack. Simple to use. Good design, high quality line and a great carabiner. It's more than some paddlers need: if you only paddle in calm conditions, the Kokatat Tow Belt is smaller and might be better for your needs. If you are going to be paddling open water in force four or above, then you need a longer line. In force four conditions with following seas, a long line is needed to prevent the towed boat from crashing into the towing boat.

The type of carabiner is important. It should have an eye for the tow line so the line cannot slip off the carabiner, and the gate should not have a tooth that might snag on deck lines. GRO uses this type of carabiner from the same manufacturer as the Kokatat carabiner. The gate is not offset, but the opening is large enough.
