Atlantic Kayak Tours has been using Nigel Dennis Kayaks (NDK) for almost a decade. We have most NDK kayak models available for sale and rent at the Paddlesport Center on the Hudson River in New York. The rental fee is refunded if you purchase the boat within one month. E-mail for availability of a specific model.
Nigel Dennis Kayaks have been used on many expeditions worldwide by some of the best kayakers in the world. They are known for their ability to handle rough water, but are also great for easier conditions.
Nigel Dennis Kayaks Standard Features: 3 hatches and bulkheads (including sloping bulkhead behind cockpit for ease of emptying), retractable skeg using rope system (VCP cable slider optional), recessed deck fittings, deck lines and bungees, recess for Nexus 70P compass and backstrap.
The main complaint about Nigel Dennis Kayaks has been a lack of consistent quality. Although NDK has been working to restore consistent high quality, it's wise to depend on a quality kayak shop that will stand behind what it sells. Nigel Dennis Kayaks are built solid. They hold up great to hard use. 5 Star paddlers love Nigel Dennis Kayaks as they do better then most of not all other boats. Not the lightest kayaks built, but strong, which is what we like. Most of our staff use kayaks hard and we like the way Nigel Dennis Kayaks hold up. Don't confuse quality consistency with how well boats hold up. The consistency issue is for new kayaks. Once any issues have been fixed, NDK kayaks are rock solid. NDK appeals to real paddlers that care more about how the boat performs then cosmetic issues.
