The Avocet is a great boat whether in fiberglass or plastic (RM). The Avocet RM is a high end plastic kayak that anyone (who fits) would love to own. Not inexpensive compared to many plastic kayaks, but you get what you pay for. It has a day hatch, three bombproof bulkheads, recessed deck fittings, cable skeg, full deck lines, front and rear spare paddle bungies and truly waterproof hatches. The construction and level of detail on this kayak is exceptional. The Avocet RM uses the VCP foam seat, which some people like better than the seat that comes standard in the fiberglass Avocet. While the hatches are watertight, they are much harder to put on and off than on the fiberglass Avocet. Not bad if that is the worst thing you can say about a kayak.

Valley Sea Kayaks says: This is the new compact, polyethylene kayak designed by Frank Goodman. Its hull cross section is based on the Pintail for liveliness, but with a bit less rocker, longer keel line, shorter upsweep at the stern and deeper bow with the VCP characteristic flare for a drier ride. It features welded polyethylene bulkheads warranteed for the life of the kayak. This boat is designed for the average sized kayaker and for shorter trips.
