Some of our staff have been paddling with Lendal paddles for over then years. Lendal is one of the oldest and most innovative paddle companies. While most other companies copy what everyone else is doing, Lendal keeps pushing original paddle designs. The four piece option is great. It allows you to have a small bag which can store two shafts and two blades. This allows you to put together different paddles for the conditions you are go in. Do you want a Nordkapp blade with a straight shaft or a Kinetik Wing with a bent shaft. Max and match as needed. Plus it allows easy storage and you can take it on an airplane.

Lendal Says: Lendal touring paddles represent the culmination of everything we have learned in over 40 years of pushing the limits in paddle design and construction. Our company was founded out of a desire for better performance, and that desire for efficiency still drives everything we do. Our goal with these paddles is to make world-class performance available to everyone. We offer our performance-oriented designs in a wide range of constructions to suit a variety of requirements in strength, weight, and price.

Our sea blades are divided into three families, each of which has a particular performance-profile and feel in the water. What does not change is that they all share an uncommon efficiency—something you can feel from the very first stroke. The tabs below provide more information on these families, as well as links to specific models.

Nordkapp: This shape was first developed for the famous Nordkapp expedition of the 1970s--a trip that played a pivotal role in the development of the modern conception of expedition kayaking. It has remained a popular choice for expeditions, but is also a great all-rounder for the strong paddler.

  • Full-sized face has plenty of power to battle wind and tide
  • Soft catch protects muscles and joints from fatigue on high-mileage days with a loaded kayak
  • The definitive expedition blade, also suitable for ocean play, fitness training, and distance paddling

Two generations of kayakers in Britain have learned to paddle using Nordkapp, and while we have broadened our range over those years, Nordkapp is still a superb choice for a strong paddler who wants to do it all.

Kinetik Touring takes the same Kinetik concept that revolutionised slalom paddling and offers it in a form specially adapted to touring. Kinetic energy is the energy of motion, and that is what this model is all about--it's exceptionally efficient, and produces a fantastic feeling of motion.

  • Tip-heavy design loads with water quickly, giving rapid response to acceleration and manoeuvring strokes
  • Cut-away throat allows longer forward reach without hitting the kayak, allowing longer, more effective strokes
  • Provides plenty of power on demand, but without the tiring excess area of a larger blade

This is a full-sized blade shape that is outstanding for high-performance paddling, cruising, training, and ocean play. Also popular for ocean and adventure racing, and the #1 choice of coaches.

Kinetik Wing: A paddle so revolutionary, it could only come from Lendal. . .

Since the introduction of the wing paddle in the 1980s, there have been a number of evolutionary refinements to the wing concept, but during all that time, no major progress was made in making wings more useful to the average paddler. Despite what many racing wing proponents will try to argue, wings remain what they have always been--specialist paddles designed to move ruddered boats quickly over flat water.

Until now.

Neil Baxter spent years developing the design, but the results are amazing. Kinetik Wing not only generates lift like a racing wing, it performs a full range of strokes in a variety of conditions. Now there is a paddle you can use in both the race course and the surf zone, and you can use it both to drive the kayak forward extremely efficiently, but to manoeuvre it precisely. When used with a wing-style stroke, you will experience the "lift" you expect from a wing, but you will notice something is missing--the quirky, destabilising nature normally associated with a wing. In fact, Kinetik Wing is easy to control in a wide range of steering and support strokes. In this mode, Kinetik Wing emphasises a "rotational" paddling style which engages the powerful muscles of the torso and legs for both greater output and a better total-body workout.

Construction and Shafts

These paddlers are available in a choice of constructions so you can best match your strength, weight, and price requirements.

Lendal are known throughout our industry as the leading experts on shafts. Whilst we have nearly a dozen grades of shaft, each suited to a specific paddling application, each discipline presents its own set of requirements. We have used our decades of expertise to produce this focused selection of shafts that provide characteristics optimised for open-water touring.

Many would regard the shaft as the most "invisible" part of a paddle, but we obsess over it just as we do with every other part of the paddle--fussing to make certain that it has the exact strength and flex required for the job. Our expertise and attention to detail in this area have made us the "go-to" source for companies who want high-specification shafts for their paddles. In addition, we supply composite tubing to a variety of industries including aerospace and defence--anywhere our precision capabilities are needed.

Lendal's patented Paddlok System sets the standard for take-apart paddle performance. Using a special joint mechanism and the Paddlok key (provided with your paddle), you have a take apart paddle that is easy to store and transport, but locks together so tightly that it feels like a 1-piece model in use. It's no longer necessary to choose between the superior performance of a 1-piece and the convenience of a take-apart--with Paddlok you can have both.

But that's just the beginning.

If you were one of the smart ones who chose a 4 piece Paddlok paddle, you've got a whole world of options open to you because Paddlok is not just a better way to join paddle sections, it is the foundation of a modular system. That means that every blade fits every shaft, so you can mix and match system components to create a paddle ideally suited to any paddling activity, even if today's activity is different from yesterday's. Now you are free to experiment with new blade shapes and sizes, try different shaft lengths, or try a Modified Crank Shaft. Of course, if you manage to break anything, you can quickly and easily repair the paddle yourself--no need to send it in for time-consuming factory repair.

This will change the way you think about kayak paddles.

When you combine world-class Lendal design with Paddlok System performance, you have the clear choice in high-performance kayak paddles.
