Nylon is the standard material for cockpit covers. Nylon looks and feels good, plus rolls up the smallest. Neoprene looks the best and holds up well, but costs more. The PVC holds up the best, but does not roll up as small or look and feel as good as nylon. Nylon will also fit a wider range of cockpit sizes and is offered in more colors.
As the ultraviolet (UV) light is what kills nylon cockpit covers and spray skirts an application of 303 Protectant every couple of months will help this cockpit cover last much longer. Don't let any ropes or straps touch the cockpit cover when you carry your kayak on your vehicle. It will cut the cockpit cover in one trip.
Snap Dragon says: The lightweight Nylon Series Cockpit Cover is designed for travel and use on multi-day kayaking trips. This cover will provide protection from the weather and can be stowed in the smallest of places.
